New Boilers Quartet – Homage to Matija Dedić

A special jazz evening at BP Club featuring the music of the legendary Boilers Quartet and the posthumous Porin Lifetime Achievement Award presented to Matija Dedić.

We invite you to a new concert in the JazzHR season at BP Club, dedicated to one of the most important Croatian jazz musicians – Matija Dedić. On Wednesday, 25 March 2026 at 8 PM, the New Boilers Quartet will perform, continuing the musical legacy of the legendary Boilers Quartet, a band that left a lasting mark on the Croatian jazz scene of the 1990s.

The original Boilers Quartet was founded in the early 1990s on the initiative of drummer Krunoslav Levačić, trumpeter Davor Križić and bassist Mladen Baraković, soon joined by pianist Matija Dedić. The ensemble quickly gained a reputation as one of the most exciting jazz groups on the Croatian scene, known for its energetic, modern sound and outstanding interpretations of jazz standards as well as original compositions. The Boilers performed frequently at the legendary BP Club and collaborated with jazz greats such as Benny Golson, Kenny Burrell and Roy Haynes. Their performances resonated beyond Croatia as well – including an important concert at London’s Vortex Jazz Club, which was even covered by The Times.

Some of Matija Dedić’s most inspired performances were created precisely with the Boilers, and this concert revisits the music and spirit of that ensemble. In the new lineup of the New Boilers Quartet, original members Krunoslav Levačićand Davor Križić are joined by outstanding musicians Hrvoje Galler on keyboards and Zvonimir Šestak on double bass. With their virtuosity, cohesion and musical passion, the quartet continues the tradition of the legendary band.

The evening will also carry a special significance: Matija Dedić will be posthumously awarded the Porin Lifetime Achievement Award, making this event both a celebration of music and a tribute to a remarkable artist whose legacy remains deeply embedded in Croatian jazz.
